Tabletop Version GAME CENTER Screenshot

SIDELINE FOOTBALL by FTP Sports Games is a full simulation of the game of Professional or College football.  The game engine is designed around an individual player's ability or inability to win battles or one-on-one matchups.  Each play from scrimmage calls on one or more players to make a play that will influence the result.  Offensive players will block, read defenses, read holes, get open, pass, catch and run, all in an attempt to make a positive play for the offense. Defensive players will play the run, tackle, hit, rush the passer, sack the passer, defend pass routes, intercept the ball and force fumbles all in an attempt to make a positive play for the defense.  The task(s) on each play and the player(s) involved are determined by a GAME CENTER Chart which serves as the centerpiece for game play. A double-sided Play Result Card deck is used in conjunction with the GAME CENTER to determine who is involved on the play and what the result of the play is.  Nearly all plays from scrimmage come from the Play Result Deck, GAME CENTER Chart and individual player cards.  Long Gains, Special Teams, Trick Plays, Turnovers and Injuries get their results from a series of supplemental charts.  On any given play, an offensive player, defensive player or a combination of the two can influence the result.  This gives each individual game a full flavor of the quality of the players from both teams as each individual player will be involved in many play results.

SIDELINE FOOTBALL includes highly detailed Game Instructions.  Support is also available through the FTP Sports Games Delphi Forum and questions emailed to ftpsportsgames@gmail.com will be answered as quickly as possible.

SIDELINE FOOTBALL FEATURES

PLAY CALLING

Example of Offensive Coordinator for Tabletop Version. Designed to look like the Offensive Coordinator Charts seen on Saturdays and Sundays

In SIDELINE FOOTBALL you can choose to call all offensive and defensive plays, or you can turn the play calling over to one of 9 Offensive Coordinators and 5 Defensive Coordinators. Over 25 plays are available in 10 Offensive Packages.  These plays are divided among the Running Game, Passing Game, Screen Game and Option Game.  The Option Game includes the Read Option popular in today's College and Professional Football.  The Defense has many options to counter with like bringing a Safety into the box against the run, Spying on a Quarterback who runs well and bringing extra pressure against a Quarterback with Blitzes.  The Play-Action game is an important part of play calling in SIDELINE FOOTBALL.  Establishing the run will be the objective of any play caller as an effective Running Game will help open up the Passing Game.  TARGET and WORKLOAD designations are given to Receivers and Running Backs so that the game system chooses who will be targeted on pass plays and who will carry the ball on running plays.  You can, of course, determine who the intended receiver or ballcarrier is on every play as well the play call itself.  You can be as involved as you want to be.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Special Teams will figure prominently into each game.  A sophisticated, yet easy to use system makes Special Teams fun and exciting.  You can even try and ice the Kicker!  Kick away from a great returner or employ a Sky Punt to give your coverage team extra time to pin him down.  Call for a Maximum Rush against a Punt or Field Goal Kick but, be careful, you increase the chances of Roughing the Kicker!

GAME PLAY NUANCES

Over the course of several games, you will see many events that add to the experience of the game:  Fumbled snaps at the start of the play and botched exchanges between the Quarterback and a Running Back.  Quarterbacks can draw the defenders offside with a strong count.  Dominating Defensive Ends can make an Offensive Tackle nervous and cause him to false start.  Time outs will be burned by both the offense and defense causing the coach frustration as there will not be a time out available to avoid a Post-Play delay of game penalty.  Even worse, if time outs are not preserved an important replay opportunity may be missed or a team may be lined up poorly and have to take a delay of game penalty or suffer through a bad play!  Punts will bounce off of players on the return team and Punt Snaps can fly over the head of the Punter!  All without consulting a rare play chart.  Nothing is overlooked in SIDELINE FOOTBALL!

HISTORICAL SEASONS SETS

Historical Seasons Sets are based upon the statistics of each individual player.  Each individual player card is carefully crafted to represent the abilities of the player.  Nearly all players that appeared in an offensive or defensive play receives an individual card.  Teams have several cards associated with Special Teams, Turnovers, Offensive and Defensive Rankings and other Team Information.

PROJECTION SEASONS SETS

Projection Season Sets are based upon the statistical projections of individual players from several types of information found in Fantasy Football Projection websites and other preseason materials.  Each roster is made up of the players who made the official roster at the start of the season.  Players are rated on projections and therefore anything can happen as you play out the season.  Generic player cards are included to supplement rosters effected by injuries.  As this is a projection of a season, you are free to play it out in anyway you choose.  You will enjoy seeing how the rookies and free agent signings are performing for you on the tabletop as you watch them play on Sunday.  College Projection Sets function in the same manner.  Can you lead your team to the Conference or National Title?
